THE PRESSURE OF TESTS
The hatred
which most students have for tests and coursework is undeniable. Students would
rather spend time on leisure activities rather than doing coursework or
studying. Factually, there are different types of students with different
methods of studying. Some students would rather read after any lesson and then be
prepared for tests or exams which arise, while some others would prepare for
tests or exams the day or few days before it is to take place.
The workload
this term has been quite heavy. Although, there haven’t been tests yet, there
have been a lot of coursework. Essays
have had to be submitted consecutively and these essays have been on broad
topics which need a lot of research. The word count of these essays even makes
it more stressful, ranging from 1000 to 1500 words. To lighten this heavy load
and also make life easier, I need to begin working on coursework and
researching on the topics at least two weeks before the due date for
submission. Having an essay plan would help and writing points on sticky notes
and pasting them on easily-accessible places would also help. Proper and
adequate preparation is the main key to reducing the pressure of tests and
coursework.
I have had
numerous concerns and also expectations on some of my coursework over this
term. I had a lot of doubt about my first coursework on Legal Theory and
expected an average mark but the result greatly shocked me and was beyond my
expectation. I have good expectations for the unseen coursework which has not
been marked yet and hope I shall not be disappointed. I believe doubt should be
avoided at all times as this only increases the pressure and stress of
coursework and also affects the morale of the student.
In
conclusion, I believe the best thing to do is to put in as much effort as
possible into any coursework given. Even when the end result is not up to
expectation, one can at least say it was done to his or her capacity.
